Hoedown!

We had a great weekend at my parents house. We went to a pumpkin farm and feed some animals, sat on a hay bail, and just walked around looking at the pumpkins. Then we went to World Outreach Church’s Harvest Hoedown with the kids. This is a huge event for that area. It was like a carnival on the church campus only everything was FREE! The kids got their plastic pumpkins filled with candy. They got their first taste of cotton candy and neither of them much cared for it. Kendra actually liked the popcorn over it much better. Ephriam really like to get to pet the animals that they had there in a mini petting zoo. They even had a Zebra, Camel, and a Zonkey (no that is not spelled wrong it is a cross between a Zebra and a Donkey). He was also happy to have a balloon and since he had one Kendra had to have one too. Kendra’s favorite thing was the people singing the kids songs. She even participated with them. She loves now to hold her finger up to do ‘This Little Light of Mine’. I hope that my parents enjoy having them there at their house even though we did wear them out. We are looking forward to our visit with them for Thanksgiving.

God Protects

This past weekend on our way home from Nashville we had to take a couple of detours around Louisville. At first I was very aggrivated with that fact that we had to go stop and go around. Mostly because I was concern about how the kids would do if we had to extend our drive further. We ended up seeing a huge accident that we found out when we got home that we could have been a part of if we hadn’t had our first delay. Had we not stop for them to clean up debris from an accident on the other side of the highway we truly could have been in the bigger accident that was just down the highway. God was truly watching over us. I made sure to tell the kids how sad the accident was but to praise God for his protection of us. Chris tells what he thinks on his blog so check it out here:

It’s Not about you…

Okay so this is kind of a vent/point post. I hate this world. Really I do. I am tried of it being about how much you have and how much money you make. I am tired of I spent too much money on this so that is going to be as much fun. I hate that people have to go to jobs that they don’t like and have to do it because they have to make more money.

I wish that people could focus more on each other sometime. Do you not see what other people in the world have? There are people all over the world who live in garbage dumps. People who don’t have fresh water to drink or that there are people starving? I wish a lot of the time that we didn’t waste as much food at our house as we do. I wish that the kids would eat all their food or at least not mess it up so that I could.

I am excited about being about to feed other people. I can’t wait to fill my yellow bag from church to help the new Mercy Works center that is going in since they are going to have a bigger need that needs to be met. I wish that I could take a missions trip to Nigeria to see the people who are going to benefit from the water that they are going to get thanks to our drilling rig.

I guess that I wish people would be more like Jesus. I wish that we weren’t so self center and crazy like we are. I wish we would share what we have and be a big community.

I am thankful for what I have and want to share with others. I especially want to share the love of Christ with them. I think that if more people really got it that they would sacrifice a little more for others. I hope that I can raise my children to be share what they have. I hope that they are good stewards of God’s money and share it.

Okay I will get off my soap box now but I had to vent.

The Power of Jesus

This week in our 4ward series we are learning about how we have the powers like Jesus. Now no any common person gets these powers. You have to be a Christ follower to get them because they are things gifts that come from the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit lives in you and communicates with God to guide you in the right direction. God wants us to use his power to help others to better his kingdom but we all have different powers because we are called to do different things. For example Chris is called to disciple people where I am called to sit with sick people and pray for them. I don’t think that I am at all called to disciple people even though I am sure in some smalls ways that I do it through the holy spirit. Where as Chris is not called to sit with sick people. He feels really bad for them but isn’t wired to take care feel for them in the way that I do. There are tons of gifts for each one of us to use but not all of us are called to do all of them.

What was really interesting this week is not only did we learn about this in our 4ward series but we also learned about it in our Supernatural series with Life Church. It is truly amazing how the two of them fit together even though they are 2 very different series in 2 very different places. It is also cool to see that Cedar Creek is doing the 30 days to live series that life church did a couple series back. It was also cool to get to see Kyle Gray preach some more. I didn’t see him preach much while I was there because then he was the worship guy. He has come a long way from that and I can see how they are blessed to have him there.

So this week we are learning about how to use our powers that Jesus has given us and how to use them in the best way. I know that there is quite a bit that I can learn.

Sleep Deprivation

Okay the past 2 days have not been so great for sleep for me. Kendra only sleep for an hour and 15 minutes one more and 2 hours the next. Then to have to fight with Ephriam to get him to take his nap both days to end up only getting a couple more hours of sleep. I am looking forward laying down and going to bed. However tonight we will be sleeping on the air mattress in the living room because Ephriam spilled a whole glass of water on our bed and the mattress is drying. It was all in one spot right where my but is so it looks like I peed on the bed. Oh well it is just one night. Well Chris wants to chat with me for a little bit before we go to bed so I am going to chat with him. Tomorrow will be a laid back day and we are looking forward to going pumpkin hunting on Sunday.

Small Group

I am TOTALLY thrilled to say that I think that Chris and I have “Found a Friend” or a small group as most people call them. And actually now that things are coming together I don’t think that is by accident that we are probably going to end up in their group. Like the fact that the leader, Rob, of the small group happen to be in charge of our area outreach and I happen to notice that he had his own web domain like we do. Also the fact that his wife works in Eprhiam and Kendra’s area while we are at church. Actually after I e-mailed Rob this afternoon telling him I would look for his wife tomorrow, Chris sent me a link to a place where I could see a picture of her and wouldn’t you know that shes has Kendra every time I get called out of church. Last week I even got to chat with her a little bit while service was going on. So I am looking forward to getting to tell her that I have been e-mailing her husband all week about joining their small group! Chris and I are totally sad that we won’t be able to be there next week since we will be visiting my parents in TN. However we are totally excited about joining them the following week. So if any one from our future small group is reading this we can’t wait to meet you and get to know you better and tell you more about us. Otherwise enjoy browsing our site.

Worship

This week in our 4ward devo we are reading all about worship. It has been really nice to read about ways in which we can praise God. God doesn’t want us to just sing praise to him but to use our whole body to praise him. As we were teaching the youth, worship is not just singing songs, we can also pray and take communion as ways of worship. One way of prayer is by laying down(Thank you for the funny story too Josh Griffin). Yes this is kinda funny especially if you do it with a group of teenagers but it really is about worshiping God. After all he did die to take away all of our sins. What would you do for someone who saved your life or possibly what would your do for your family, friends, or your children? Would you not go to extreme measure for them. Since God created us he wants us to go to extreme measure for him. To give him credit for all he has done.  My husband says a lot in a few words about this in his blog at technerdical.chruchpunk.com (entry entiled: 4ward Day 21). I want to worship God as often as I can. I Love him for all he has done for me and want other people to know that. I hope that I show that in my actions, however I am NOT perfect and do sin so I don’t always do the right thing. I am aiming for perfection but will not get there because Jesus is the only one who was perfect.

Zoo!

Okay this weekend we made a quick run the the zoo before it gets cold. I love going to the zoo! I love getting to see the animals. It was also nice to see my kids looking at the animals. Ephriam named quite a few of them with a little help. I think he was in awe of the day. He really like getting out and getting to see things for himself. He like it most if he could be on his own feet and look at things and not be held. He is getting to be such a big boy. Kendra pointed to all sorts of things too. But I don’t want to give away a lot here, I want to make you read the kids’ blog for an update. (probably won’t happen till later since it is almost 0130 in the morning and I need to go to bed but you will have to watch for it.)
